Here is Easter 2000 at Wolf Park!

On April 23, 2000, we had our Annual Easter Egg hunt. We had hard-boiled the eggs and even decorated them. The wolves also got some, not many, but some marshmallow peeps. The wolves get the Eggs shells and all. It's fun to watch the wolves with their eggs, they actually shell them first and many just eat out the yoke leaving what most wolves consider to be "icky" white stuff behind. As for the peeps, they gulp those right down.

We started with the Eastlake Wolves. For them, we just tossed eggs over the fence. They seemed to enjoy this well enough. Here is a photo of Orca finishing up his Easter Eggs. He really likes eggs :-)

Then on to the Pack. The main pack has a holding pen so we lured the wolves out of their enclosure and into the holding pen so all the staff and Interns could hide eggs. That was great fun and we hid eggs everywhere....

As you can see, the wolves were quite excited when they were released from the holding pen -- rushing out to search for eggs.

One fun place to hide eggs is up in trees!

Tristan is quite good at dealing with treed treats. Of course being exceptionally tall really helps :-)

Then again, nothing is going to prevent them from "cheating" a little. Tristan and Marion are up on one of the wooden shelters snacking away...

It's kind of hard to see in this image, but all the trees along the pond here were "decorated" with treats.

Marion's got this all figured out!

The hollow log was also well decorated with eggs and peeps. Erin here seems to be having some difficultly though...

She just can't seem to fit through that small hole...

Aha, just go around and through!

Then there is the old "Egg in a Stump" trick. Took Miska quite some time to get this one out.

Well, that was the Wolves Easter Egg Hunt. I hope you enjoyed it. The wolves sure did :-)
