Wolf Park Puppy Photo Sessions
A great opportunity to photograph the Wolf Park puppies
Please Note: there will be no wolf pups in 2000. However, we might raise some fox kits who will be just as cute and photogenic.
Special opportunities to photograph young pups are often available early each summer. Since these are limited opportunities we recommend you schedule something as soon as possible or you may miss out. Each session is limited to two people, and only three sessions can be offered each week, in order to reduce stress on the pups.
These sessions are usually offered on a limited basis, beginning in June.
The pups are usually born in April. They will be photographed in an enclosure in the East Lake portion of Wolf Park. All sessions will be held in late afternoon unless special arrangements are made. This is the time when the pups become active, and it tends to be a bit cooler out. The light is also good. Plan to arrive around 3pm, and the two hour session will probably begin around 4-5pm.
Individuals going in with the pups should be 18 years or older, unless prior special arrangements have been made. Participants must be dressed appropriately to go in with the pups. This includes long pants, closed toed shoes, and no jewelry. Be prepared to get dirty, as the enclosures are often muddy. All kinds of photo equipment are fine for use in these sessions. Unlike the adults, we can usually keep pups from devouring tripods.
The fee is $100 per person, and a non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to hold a spot. We accept checks, Visa and Mastercard.
We also reserve the right to cancel any session if we deem it to be in the best interest of the puppies, for any reason at all. (A full refund would be given in that situation.) If weather does not cooperate, you can reschedule your session for another day. Be sure to let us know if you are canceling due to rain.
You should bring a 35 mm camera with a telephoto lens in the range of 135mm to 300mm or better recommended. A good filter (I recommend an 81A warming filter)is highly recommended to protect your lens against puppy paws and tongues. Bring a flash if you have one, the pups won't mind. Bring two cameras if you have a second body so you won't have to change lenses in the wolf pen.
